Housed in the historic former home of Mr. and Mrs. J.K. Elkins, the Yoakum Heritage Museum tells the story of Texas’s “Leather Capital.” The museum’s Leather Room features an impressive amount of information and artifacts from the town’s rawhide revolution. There are also rooms dedicated to Yoakum’s military past, the nearby San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad, and the town’s early years. While in town, stop by Chisholm Trail Memorial Park, located at Hwy 77A and Gonzales Street.
