The last place to buy supplies before Abilene, Kansas, and site of the famous water crossing at Red River Station, Bowie boomed as a result of the cattle drives. At Chisholm Trail Memorial Park, nine life-size longhorns and two cowboys – all made of steel – pay tribute to the trail’s legacy in these parts.
